On a warm, sunny day, I decided to see what the East Over Reservation in Rochester, MA had to offer.
The reservation is about 75 acres large and includes old farm fields and a wooded area. The serene surroundings will provide you with an opportunity to relax and enjoy nature.
I hope you enjoy the photos.
Paths follow the perimeters of old stone walls. The path below is the main path leading away from the parking lot.
If you’re a fan of open places, you’ll love this path. It meanders around a stone wall and then brings you through the field itself. I tried to imagine what this place would have looked like years ago. Were there cows? Did they grow crops? Walking along this trail, it’s easy to get lost in a historic day dream.
Remember to stay on the trails. The fields are now a habitat for nesting birds. I saw a few flying around, but none cared to pose for a picture for me. I was able to get a shot of one bird flying around.
Luckily, fields don’t move and try to evade my camera. Taking shots of stationary grassland is much easier.
Finally, I found someone who didn’t mind posing for a shot.
At a certain point, I had to decide which way to go.
Okay, I didn’t have to decide. I knew which way to go, I just really wanted to add a corny caption to that photo.
This fur ball was waiting for me back at the parking lot. Just like the butterfly, he was nice enough to pose for a picture. He loved the attention.
I enjoyed my hike here, and I recommend you check it out if you’re in the area.
