Fort Revere Park is located in Hull, MA on the state’s South Shore. This historical fort offers great views of the Boston skyline, the ocean, and a few of the Boston Harbor Islands. Bring a lunch and enjoy a peaceful picnic. The fort also has great exploring potential for small, domesticated bears such as Benny.
A beautiful, work-free day can only mean one thing: Time for exploring! Benny thought we should check out Fort Revere Park in Hull. The town of Hull is on a peninsula. Benny had some trouble saying that word, so I pretended that I did too to make him feel better.
Anywho, Fort Revere dates back to the Revolution. It used to be called Fort Independence, but then was renamed to honor Paul Revere. Benny wanted me to explain who Paul Revere was, but I didn’t want to get off topic.
You can meander through the fort. It’s relatively safe, or at least it was when we last visited. You can see where the guns used to be stationed.
The fort was decommissioned in 1947. It was active during the War of 1812, the Civil War, and World War I.
And yes, you can go inside. It’s not nearly as spooky or damp as Fort Wetherill in Jamestown. It’s much cleaner, but still be careful. It goes without saying that you enter at your own risk. (Benny just asked me that if it goes without saying, then why did I have to say it? I couldn’t think of a good answer.)
From Fort Revere Park you can see the Boston Harbor Islands and the Boston skyline.
There’s also a picnic area. So, bring the family, friends, and animals (like Benny) and have a good time!
